BRIAN DELATE

actor/filmmaker/veteran

Brian is a combat veteran of the Vietnam War, during which he served as a decorated non-commissioned officer. He has had a diverse and rewarding career in film, theatre, and television. Brian worked on the big screen alongside luminaries such as Al Pacino, Jim Carrey, Jodie Foster, Laura Linney, Ed Harris, Tim Robbins, and many others. Directors include Peter Weir, Al Pacino, Estelle Parsons, Neil Jordan, Edward Burns, Frank Darabont, and Peter Hyams in such films and television shows as Wilde Salome, Nice Guy Johnny, The Brave One, The Shawshank Redemption, The Truman Show, Buffalo Soldiers, Home Before DarkSudden Death, Sex and the City, Unforgettable, and more. He was prominently featured in five episodes with Lisa Kudrow in HBO’s The Comeback.

As a writer, Brian has written the eight-episode series U.S.—Unknown Soldiers. At present, his newest theatre opus, Guardian Angels, follows the successful run of Memorial Day, which he developed at the Actors Studio under the wise guidance of Ellen Burstyn. Memorial Day took on the issues of combat and PTSD. Guardian Angels — now a film of the play — explores the fantastical and life-changing event Brian experienced, which marked a spiritual or psychological upheaval directly connected to his experience as a combat veteran.

Redemption? Yes. Hope? Yes. Promise? You bet.
